Beware the icoolgadgets scam for the T95M TV Box on Facebook

By | March 9, 2018

This is a warning for anyone tempted by this icoolgadgets scam on Facebook for the T95M TV box. This Android TV box is being aggressively promoted but if you are considering purchasing one please read this article first. Why do I call it a scam? Frankly, they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Not only that, this product is way overpriced for the specifications. We had a similar marketing campaign last year for the TV Frog box.

Many people were tricked into buying it and they were scammed out of their hard-earned. I am writing this article to highlight what this advertising campaign falsely claims and why you should give it a wide berth!

The Facebook Scam

Facebook have banned the Advertising of Android TV boxes that are fully loaded with Kodi so I'm not sure how this slipped through the net. This icoolgadgets advert is regularly appearing on my newsfeed.

But they come in different guises. The company must have created different Facebook pages because the same advert comes under 2 different names that I've witnessed so far.

Clicking on either one will take you to the same icoolgadgets website for the T95M Android box.

What They Claim

I was gobsmacked when I went to their website. As soon as I saw the Facebook Ad I knew instantly that this was another rip-off. They claim that this TV box is 100% legal when in fact that's not strictly true.

Is T95M Legal?

Many suppliers and sellers of boxes like this have been sued and others are currently facing lawsuits so before you jump in to buy this please keep this in mind.

They claim it can be used anywhere in the World and you can access free movies without the need for a subscription.

Can it be used Worldwide?

If you are in the UK there is a likelihood that most of the streams won't work since the ISPs are now blocking servers especially when accessed through Kodi.

They are also utilizing Mobdro and Show Box which are othe free apps for accessing TV content. All they have done is pre-install them so you can use the apps. Mobdro isn't available on the Play Store so a lot of folks maybe don't know how to sideload it. Kodi can be downloaded from the Play Store for free.

The only way this will function to its full potential in the UK would be through a VPN connection. That would allow you to access content that is otherwise blocked.

What about the Specs?

They also claim it is state-of-the-art and it's a brilliant device. Let me tell you, it's neither of these. Let's take a look at the main specifications and see just how brilliant it's not.

  • OS: Android 6.0.1 Lollipop
  • CPU: Amlogic S905X
  • GPU: Penta Core Mali-450
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB of Storage
  • Single band WiFi 2.4GHz
  • 100M Ethernet
  • 4K Resolution

Let me disect these for a minute. The S905X has been replaced with the far superior S912 processor and had a lot of performance issues on Android boxes. The Mali-450 GPU is old hat and you can now find the Mali-T820 as pretty standard.

1GB of RAM is very poor and you will be pulling your hair out at the lack of speed. 8GB of flash storage is the bare minimum for these boxes but you can connect a flash drive via the USB port.

Single band WiFi? Boo!!! Not even access to the faster 5GHz band is available with this crappy box. Plus, they don't even give you Gigabit Ethernet at 1000M.

The Price for the T95M

Here is the disgusting part. They want to charge you $97.97 for this! They offer discounts if you buy more boxes - very similar to what TV Frog were offering. It makes me wonder if it's the same crowd flying under a different flag!

Buy 2 for $88.17 each (10% off!) - $176.35 Total
Buy 3 for $78.38 each (20% off!) - $235.13 Total
Buy 5 for $68.58 each (30% off!) -
$342.90 Total

The last Android TV box I purchased was the Tanix TX8 MAX with 3GB of RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, Amlogic S912 CPU, Mali-T820 GPU and Dual Band WiFi all powered by Android 7 Nougat. Plus, it comes with Kodi 17.3 pre-installed.

The Price?

A very affordable $59.99 over at Geekbuying.

How does that make you feel?

I makes me livid to think that they are selling these tin trash cans for almost twice the price of a better, faster and more technologically advanced piece of kit like the TX8 MAX.

The TX8 is very fast and is a joy to use unlike the T95M. Make your own mind up but I would steer well clear of this icoolgadgets mob.

We all crave free TV or at least cheaper TV. A cable TV or satellite TV subscription is very expensive these days. I know because I had one. That was before I discovered an IPTV service that gave me access to channels from UK, USA, Canada and other European countries.

You could also choose to buy an Android box like the TX8 MAX. The IPTV service I am going to tell you about can also be used on Android boxes.

The only downside is you wouldn't get access to all of the features like the catch up channels but you could use the Android device for live TV channels and also free TV apps like Kodi or Mobdro.

Cut your cable for real

A better way to watch this IPTV service is on a MAG TV box or Smart TV (Samsung and LG only). It's super easy to use and has a great menu where you can choose from different genres.

Plus, there is a huge video library included, containing more than 72,000 on-demand titles like movies, TV shows, documentaries, boxsets, etc.

Whilst this IPTV service isn't free, if you really want to replace your expensive cable TV this can do it. I know this for a fact because I did it in 2016 when I discovered this service. It works in any country except the UK. Plus, you can get a 2 day free trial. You can save 1000's of $$$$.

After that, subscriptions start at €16.95 p/month for Android and €19.95 p/month for MAG Box/Smart TV. You are paying for a genuine quality product with customer support and flexible packages to suit everyone.
